When you are buying electronics, especially expensive ones, it’s smart to make sure you get a good guarantee. Also called a warranty, a guarantee can cover you if the products needs repairs or to be replaced. This is an important thing to have, especially if you don’t have the money to pay for expensive repairs. And with all the expenses, from http://www.direct.tv subscriptions to loans and mortgages, we need all the savings we can have.

Many stores and online sites, such as www.Offers.com, provide guarantees with certain products. Here are some things to look for in a good guarantee.

Does the guarantee cover unexpected problems with new technologies? This is especially relevant for items such as flat screen televisions and computers. If something goes wrong with products that run on newer technologies, you’ll probably have a harder time getting them fixed, so make sure this is covered in the guarantee.

With that in mind, does the guarantee provide coverage for having the item fixed in your home, or does it cover transportation costs if you have to send the item to another location for repairs? This is especially relevant for larger items, as you may not be able to move it to have it repaired.

If you know you are going to have the item for an extended time, an extended guarantee or warranty may also be a good idea. Many electronics these days are made with parts that don’t last, so putting in a few extra dollars to get an extended guarantee or warranty could work in your favor in the future. Ask the store or website from which you are purchasing the product if longer term protection is available.

Getting a good guarantee on electronics is important, so keep these points in mind.

These days with so many gadgets available a person can lose track of all their remote controls! Universal remotes have become very popular as a way to combine remotes into one convenient site.

Just What is a Universal Remote?

A universal remote is a remote control that can be programmed to run many brands and types of electrical goods which each need a single remote to use. Depending on the level of remote quality you buy, the number of devices you can programme in will vary.

Universal Remote Features

Most universal remotes consist of the following features.

On/off button and buttons specific to devices such as TV, DVD, etc…

Channel and volume selectors.

Numeric keypad.

More expensive universal remotes will have the following features.

User programming capabilities, such as allowing a person to program into the remote the commands wanted.

The ability to allow a user to control multiple devices without switching the remote settings, such as, a user could change the channel on the TV whilst turning the volume up on the stereo and not have to switch from TV to stereo on the remote.

The ability for the remote to be set up to use a computer.

Some remotes come with bluetooth capabilities instead of using infrared.

A universal remote controls is a great way of keeping things need and tidy in your media room. And because you are only using one remote, it is a great way to cut down on costs associated with buying batteries, as you don’t have to keep refilling a bunch of remotes with new batteries.

The use of tablet PCs has taken off at a seemingly exponential rate over the past couple of years. Since Android was initially introduced as a viable competitor to the once dominated industry, there has been a barrage of different tablet based products made available to hungry consumers.

However, regardless of the popularity of these innovative products, they are still relatively new and thus lack large amounts of software when compared to traditional laptop and desktop computers. Below are a couple of methods you can employ to find some free software to try out for your new tablet pc.

The Internet

The Internet is one of the best places to find out where to obtain free software for new tablets. Due to the increasing popularity of these devices, there are developers coming out with new programs and applications on a regular basis. Many of these developers are eager to get the word out about their products in order to build a reputation. Due to this fact, it is not uncommon to find free versions of their software available on various media based and personally hosted web sites.

Ask Your Supplier

Many tablets are supplied by cell phone companies that provide service to the mobile device when used outside the range of a wireless signal. People who are using a tablet that is recieving service from a cell phone provider can find out where to find free software for a new tablet by inquiring about it at the time of purchase, or by going to one of the various service provider stores whenever convenient.

20 years ago, the every day gadgets we have in our homes today would have been considered futuristic. Here are some gadgets which are considered futuristic today, but in 20 years may be every day items.

Floor Plan Light Switch

Do you sometimes leave a room at one end of the house only to get to the other end and realize you left the light on? Well, a floor plan light switch could solve your problems. Along with having light switches in each room, there is a central control panel which you can use to turn any lights throughout the house on or off. Perhaps a closer option than trudging all the way back to the room where you left the light on!

Self Sterilizing Door Handle

This would be fantastic in a public toilet, but is just as useful for your home toilet. Such a device can help prevent the spread of germs which transmit via hand contact. When the handle is not being used, an internal UV lamp will continuously sterilize with heat. THe moment the sensor detects pressure or movement, the lamp turns off. Because it is a UV lamp it does not make the handle too hot to touch.

IQ Alarm Clock

Snooze buttons are an enemy for some. The mindless action of hitting a button does not help anyone if they love to sleep in! The IQ alarm clock is smarter than the average clock. It initiates lucid thinking in a person waking up by asking questions repeatedly which need an answer. The questions don’t stop until you hit the right answer from the options available. That’s enough to get anyone up in the morning.

Remember when 3D involved wearing cardboard glasses with red and blue cellophane paper for lenses? Gone is that retro image, for 3D is slowly making its way into every day homes as the technology is becoming more common and accessible.

What is 3D Television?

3D refers to the 3rd dimension. When it comes to television, this means that the pictures on the screen will seem to leap off the traditional 2D platform. This is achieved with the help of specially designed glasses, which need to be worn to see the television show in 3D. If you do not have the specially designed glasses you are still able to watch the television set as normal.

Where can I get a 3D Television Set?

More and more companies are producing their own version of 3D television sets. Manufacturers currently selling 3D television sets include:

Samsung

LG

Panasonic

All of the above brands include ethernet, bluetooth, wi-fi and USB player and recorder. The television sets are available in full 3D or 3D ready. This means that in order for the television to be viewed in 3D, a set-top box and LCD shutter glasses are needed to be worn.

Depending on your local technology stores, the availability of such televisions will vary. If you are comfortable with the internet and ordering online, then a 3D television will be easily accessible.

although still a new home technology, 3D television will no doubt be integrated into our every day lives in the near future. The question is, what will technology come up with next?
